Morathi-Khaine

Morathi's story is older than the Mortal Realms. Mother of the shadow-god Malerion and sorceress-queen of an age that ended in ruin, she was devoured along with the old world by Slaanesh, and refused to stay devoured. Alone among the countless souls in the Dark Prince's gut she kept her selfhood, enduring torment beyond calendar or measure, and when her moment came she tore her way back into existence by will alone. The escape left its price upon her: beneath the flawless beauty she wears like armor coils her true shape, a winged serpent of shadow wrought by long agony, and she has ended lives to keep it unseen.

In Ulgu she raised Hagg Nar and built upon the legend of dead Khaine the most successful theological fraud in existence. As High Oracle she preached the Murder God's coming rebirth while quietly rerouting his worship to herself, growing stronger with every rite; from souls reclaimed during the binding of Slaanesh she shaped the Melusai and Khinerai, children who could never betray a secret they were never given. For centuries she balanced on that knife's edge (prophet in public, secret beneficiary of her own religion in private), out-scheming gods, daemons, and the doubts of her own priesthood to hold the pattern together.

Then she stopped balancing and leapt. Amid the convulsions of the Broken Realms, Morathi completed the apotheosis she had plotted since before the realms had names and ascended as Morathi-Khaine: one goddess in two simultaneous bodies. The radiant oracle and the monstrous Shadow Queen now act as a single will in two places: sealing pacts with one hand while the other tears down whatever stands in her way. Her seizure of Anvilgard, reborn as the dark city of Har Kuron, should have meant war with Azyr; instead the God-King gritted his teeth and kept her in the pantheon, because heaven's arithmetic favors her armies. Morathi-Khaine at last possesses what she suffered millennia to claim, and the lie beneath her faith has become the one thing she can never afford to have exhumed.
