Elves

The Elves are among the eldest of the mortal peoples, a race of surpassing beauty, intellect and arrogance whose golden age lies long behind them. Once they ruled a great island empire and mastered the winds of magic as no other could, but pride and civil war shattered their unity, and they have dwindled ever since, haunted by the ruin of what they were.

The High Elf Realms of Ulthuan endure as the last bastion of their old glory, a magical island guarded by dragon-mages and silver-helmed spearmen who hold back the tides of Chaos from behind their vortex. In the deep forest of Athel Loren dwell the wood elves, secretive kin bound to the spirits of the trees, who slay any who trespass beneath their boughs. And across the ocean, in the frozen land of Naggaroth, the exiled dark elves nurse a hatred without end.

The cruel Druchii raid and enslave in the name of the murder-god Khaine, their corsairs and cold-hearted sorceresses a nightmare upon every coast. Between these three kindreds runs an unhealed wound of betrayal and kinstrife older than most human nations. Beautiful, brilliant and doomed, the elves fight their long twilight war against Chaos and against one another, a magnificent race sliding slowly toward its end.
