Transcendent C'tan

The Transcendent C'tan is a shard of one of the star-gods the necrons once worshipped, then shattered and enslaved, a fragment of a being that fed upon suns and drank the life of whole species before the deathless betrayed it. Even so diminished, splintered into a mote of its former self and shackled within a necrodermis body, it remains a walking impossibility. Reality frays in its presence; time stutters, matter forgets its shape, and the laws that govern the universe grow apologetic and uncertain. The necrons unleash such a shard only in dire need, for a C'tan chained is never a C'tan tamed. It hurls cosmic fire, drags foes into collapsing pockets of warped space, or simply wills them to unmake themselves, while its masters watch always, ready to bind it back into stasis. To witness a Transcendent C'tan wage war is to glimpse the terrible truth at the heart of the Necrons: they did not merely conquer the galaxy of old, they murdered gods, and keep the corpses on a leash.
