Lightning Claws

Lightning claws are the twinned killing tools of assault specialists, worn as bladed gauntlets tipped with three or four long talons. Each claw is sheathed in a disruptive power field, and the pair are often built with integral bolt weapons in the wrist, so their wielder can fire even as he rends. Where the talons touch, armour parts like cloth and flesh offers no resistance at all.

They are favoured by the swift, aggressive companies of the Space Marines, warriors who prefer to end a fight in a single furious rush. A veteran clad in Tactical Dreadnought armour and armed with a pair of them becomes a whirlwind of death, carving through squads in a blur of sparking talons, striking too fast for the eye to follow and far too fast for the enemy to answer.

Fighting with lightning claws is an art of momentum and ferocity. There is no parrying with them, no careful duel: only the relentless, slashing advance of a warrior who trusts his armour to keep him alive while his claws do their work. The sight of a champion wreathed in the crackling glow of paired claws is a promise of butchery, and many foes break before ever crossing blades with him. To bear them is to be counted among a Chapter's most lethal close-quarters killers.
