Lurid Haze Invaders

The Lurid Haze are Invaders who have made an ally of the air itself. They march wrapped in rolling banks of perfumed fog: a narcotic, dreaming mist that smells of crushed flowers and something worse beneath. To breathe it is to grow slow, languid, and strangely content; and contentment, on a field where the Lurid Haze are hunting, is the last mistake a soldier makes.

Battle against them begins not with a clash but with a softening, a dream that settles over the ranks as the sweetness thickens on the wind. By the time the defenders grasp that the fog is not weather but weapon, the daemonettes and seekers of the Haze are already among them, striking from quarters no army should be able to reach: the flank that was covered, the ground that was impassable, the rear that was safe. The mist hides their approach and blunts the will to resist it, and what began as a dream ends, with dreadful swiftness, as a rout. There is a cruel elegance to this that the servants of Slaanesh prize above mere butchery: the Lurid Haze do not batter down a foe so much as seduce him into ruin. Survivors, if any, keep no clear memory of the battle: only a lingering sweetness they will spend their lives trying, and failing, to place.
