Mortek Guard

Mortek Guard are the foundation stone of every Ossiarch legion. Armed with nadirite weapons and interlocking shields, they fight as a phalanx in the truest sense: hundreds of bodies governed by one battlefield intelligence, wheeling and reforming faster than any living drill-line could dream. Gaps close before they finish opening. Shields lock above the fallen. The advance resumes.

Each Mortek is animated by a blend of soldier-souls distilled down to discipline and craft, and the horror of them lives in the small details. They do not cheer, cry out, or bleed; a Mortek assault makes no sound but the clatter of bone and the measured commands of their Mortisan handlers. Along the tithe-roads the villagers say you hear a Mortek phalanx twice: once when it comes for your walls, and once forever after.
