Dreadspears

Dreadspears are the mainstay of the druchii armies, close-ranked infantry armed with long spears and tall shields who form the ordered heart of the battle-line. Every druchii is raised to the sword and the spear, and the Dreadspears are the citizen-soldiery of the black cities marshalled for war, drilled into cold and effective discipline by their highborn officers. They advance in tight formation, shields locked and spear-points levelled, presenting a hedge of steel that can hold a flank or pin a foe while swifter and crueller troops do the killing. There is little glory in their ranks and less mercy in their hearts; the Dreadspears fight because their lords command it and because failure in Naggaroth is punished far more terribly than any death the enemy might offer. Behind their disciplined façade lies the whole cruelty of the druchii, waiting only for the line to break the other way.
