Rubric Marine

The Rubric Marine is a hollow relic of a proud Legion, an empty suit of animated armour that once housed a living warrior. When the sorcerer Ahriman cast his fateful Rubric to halt his brothers' mutation, he doomed the unwitting to a far crueller fate, reducing their flesh to dust while binding their souls forever within their war-plate.

Now only enchanted armour marches where men once stood, filled with swirling dust that glimmers with the last embers of consciousness. Rubricae obey the commands of their sorcerer masters with mindless, mechanical perfection, advancing in silent ranks and levelling inferno bolters that wreath their foes in unnatural flame. They know neither fear nor fatigue, for there is nothing left within them to feel.

The Rubric Marines form the disciplined battle-line of the Thousand Sons, automaton soldiers shepherded to war by the surviving Sorcerers who escaped the Rubric's curse. Among the Chaos Space Marines they are a haunting sight, a Legion of ghosts entombed in gold and blue, forever damned.
