The Shield Eternal

The Shield Eternal is a storm shield of near-legendary antiquity, borne by the champions of Ultramar since times half-lost to record. Its emitters throw up a coruscating barrier of force that has weathered the fire of battle cannons and the blades of daemon princes, and still it endures where those who struck at it have long since fallen to dust.

Wrought in the traditions of the Space Marines of the Ultramarines, the shield is faced with the heraldry of the Chapter and blessed by generations of Chaplains, its history a litany of heroes preserved from certain death. To bear it into battle is to be counted among the most trusted defenders of the primogenitor Chapter, a warrior set to stand where the line must not break.

Time and again the Shield Eternal has interposed itself between a killing blow and a life the Imperium could not afford to lose. Its wielders speak of a strange certainty that settles upon them in the moment of impact, a conviction born of every hero who carried it before, that so long as the shield holds, the sons of Guilliman shall not be broken.
