Contemptor Dreadnought

A Contemptor Dreadnought of the Night Lords was a thing of dread even to its own Legion, an interred veteran whose mind had endured the horrors of the Eighth's way of war for far too long before his body finally failed him. Sealed within the armoured sarcophagus of the Contemptor, such an ancient fought on, his cruelty undimmed and often sharpened by the long, lightless years of his interment.

The pattern's swift and aggressive systems suited a Legion that prized the sudden strike, letting the Dreadnought stride into close battle rather than lumber behind the line. Some among the Eighth's Contemptors were said to have half-lost themselves to madness or worse, their war-cries broadcast to spread terror as surely as any Night Raptor's scream. In the Heresy they were engines of atrocity, striding nightmares loosed upon the enemies of the Warmaster.
