Cypra Mundi

Cypra Mundi is the great fortress-hub of the Imperial Navy in the Segmentum Obscurus, a bristling nexus of orbital docks, void-shielded shipyards and star-fort batteries. From its cavernous berths sail the battlefleets that patrol the troubled northern reaches of the galaxy, and to its repair-cradles limp the war-torn vessels of a thousand campaigns. It is the beating heart of Imperial power in a region forever menaced by the Eye of Terror.

The world serves as a vital muster-point for the Astra Militarum as well, its transit-stations funnelling countless regiments toward the war-zones of the segmentum. Untold billions of guardsmen have passed through its processing-halls on their way to distant deaths, and the endless logistics of humanity's armies are coordinated from its fortified command-spires.

So critical is Cypra Mundi that its loss would blind and cripple the Imperium across half a segmentum, and thus its defences are among the most formidable ever raised. Ring upon ring of guns and minefields gird the system, manned by garrisons who know they can never falter. When the storms of Chaos surged from the Eye, Cypra Mundi stood firm, a fortress-star holding back the dark so that the light of Terra might not be wholly extinguished.
