Auric Hearthguard

The Auric Hearthguard guard the lodges' holiest things: the temple-forges where ur-gold becomes runes, the runemasters who work them, and the vaults where a god's body waits in pieces. Their magmapikes are miracles of Zharrgrim craft: rune-locked weapons that hurl gobbets of living magma, drawn from the same deep fires that birthed Vulcatrix's brood.

In battle they fight as a rolling bombardment, cracking armour open and cooking warbeasts inside their own hides, and even the molten shot that misses still matters, for it cools into snares of black rock that grip monsters mid-charge. An Auric Hearthguard's oath is the simplest in the lodge and the heaviest: the ur-gold does not fall into another's hands, whatever the cost.
