Vulkite Berzerkers

Vulkite Berzerkers are the great mass of any lodge's fighting strength: warriors who have earned their first ur-gold runes and hunger for many more. They go to war bare-chested behind bladed slingshields, swinging fyresteel handaxes and brutal war-picks, and they measure the worth of a contract by the quality of the enemies it lets them kill. A fyrd of Vulkites at full charge is less a battle-line than an avalanche with a grudge.

Their tactics are older than any of the free cities: hurl the slingshield to shear through the first rank, then close to where the runes burn brightest. The Zharrgrim teach that Grimnir's rage flows strongest in a warrior's final moments, and the Vulkites embrace the lesson: the wounded fight harder, the dying hardest of all, and many a foe has broken a Vulkite fyrd only to be dragged down by warriors who refused to acknowledge their own deaths until the oath was fulfilled.
